Congratulations on joining the Crossfit community. You have taken a big step toward a healthy lifestyle and are making one of the most important investments of your life. A major component of being healthy is staying active, or as I tell my patients; “be in motion.” Our bodies were made to be in motion. Unfortunately, most of us have to sit at a desk in front of a computer for long hours causing our muscles to gradually shorten and weaken over time. This is especially true with the muscles surrounding our spine called postural or “core” muscles. Crossfit workouts are valuable because they help avoid these conditions since you are working multiple groups of muscles with each activity. In doing so, a person is strengthening essential supportive spinal muscles which will aid in avoiding back and neck pain. When patients come in to my practice complaining of musculoskeletal pain, many times it is due to an inactive lifestyle. Once we treat them and get them exercising again, a vast majority of their symptoms disappear. Remember, we are meant to be in motion. Go Do It!
